About DAAFF
The Dallas Asian American Film Festival (DAAFF) is a hyperlocal film festival showcasing Asian American filmmakers, with an emphasis on Asian Texan talent, presented by the Dallas Asian American Art Collective (DAAART) and hosted by the Dallas Museum of Art, Nasher Sculpture Center, and Crow Museum of Asian Art.
An extension of the mission of the Dallas Asian American Art Collective, DAAFF is by Asian Texans for Asian Americans & the greater North Texas arts community.
DAAART’s mission is to connect & cultivate the Asian American creative community in Dallas through creating spaces, arts opportunities, and public educational programming to advocate for and amplify the voices of Asian Texan artists. Rules & Terms
The Dallas Asian American Film Festival seeks to screen films that meet the following criteria:
Short films directed, led by, starring, or centering Asian American & Asian diasporic narratives living in the United States.
All short films must be 15 min or shorter in length for both categories of Live Action Shorts and Animated & Experimental Shorts
Submitters must have the rights to screen their work. DAAFF is unable to pay screening fees at this time.
Films must be from 2023-2026.
For these purposes, Asia is defined broadly, including the countries of East Asia, South Asia, Southeast Asia, Central Asia, and Western Asia. Diaspora is defined as those who are living outside of the country of their ethnic origin.
The inaugural Dallas Asian American Film Festival will be held on August 29th, 2026 at Dallas Museum of Art. All finalized works must be completed and shipped at least one month prior to the screening date. This contract is binding and you will be held responsible for the information in your submission.
DAAFF wants to be as accessible as possible and encourage filmmakers to add closed caption files if their film is selected.
Submission Fee: $35*
*All fees will go directly back into funding the festival, paying artist honorariums, and feeding our volunteers! Texas-based filmmakers are eligible for a submission fee discount, please fill out the following form.

The Dallas Arts District has a reputation of not only providing the public with access to global-tier art, but also a passion to invest in the local, emerging talent of the North Texas art ecosystem. From bestowing grants, to organizing community events, to engaging with local artists, the Dallas Museum of Art, Nasher Sculpture Center, and Crow Museum of Asian Art have always fostered the hyperlocal as well as the global.
